Winter Conference 2009
Wednesday, January 28 - Saturday, January 31, 2009
Greensboro, NC
YAMiA will host several important workshops this year and we encourage you to find a way to be there! Bring your team or send someone in your place if you can't be there personally. We'll also be gathering for a special luncheon on Thursday.
If funding is a concern, consider volunteering for a reduced rate.
From the AMiA website: In previous years, Winter Conference volunteers were assumed to be conference participants and paid full registration fees. This year, however, we want to demonstrate our appreciation for volunteers and have developed a sliding scale for registration fees based on the number of hours that these individuals volunteer. Volunteers can take advantage of all conference sessions when they are not scheduled to work.
Get all the general conference details here. (including links for registration, prayer and volunteer information)

What do we leave them with?

Getting Ministry Done
Using systems and technology to free your time
David Allen recently wrote a popular book among business professionals called Getting Things Done. GTD is a system for those in business who feel overwhelmed and overloaded at work. Sound familiar to those of us working in ministry? Getting Ministry Done is for those who want to be more productive and stress free in our calling. In this session, we will talk about techniques and tools that will help you get more details of ministry done in less time so that you can focus on what matters most.
Paul Martin
Paul is a youth pastor at St. Peter's Anglican church. He has worked for over fifteen years in ministry in churches from 150 to 1000. A recovering Type A personality, he has an extensive knowledge in systems analysis and management that he has used in managing ministries, teams, small groups, families, driving in traffic, preparing dinners and conducting orchestras.
Getting Started in Youth Ministry
If you are asking the question "Where do I start?" Or, "How do I find and work with volunteer leaders?" Or, "How do I get kids to show up?" Or, "I have been asked to work with Middle and High school students, what does that mean?" Lets talk about youth ministry. Getting started is designed to help you do just that. We will be talking through your firsts, camps, retreats, parents meetings, recruiting and training leaders. Oh yea, and what your week to week might look like.
Curt Solomon
Curt Solomon is director of youth at The Church of the Apostles in Raleigh, North Carolina. Curt has been involved in youth ministry since his college days, and has experienced volunteer ministry, part-time ministry, camp ministry, and ministry in the para-church. He has been working with students in these capacities for the last 15 years, and still thinks it's a blast.
