    Kingdom Tycoon!!!

    Monday, August 18, 2008

I recently had an opportunity to share a message with our congregation and God placed a computer software game on my heart. Similar to "Zoo Tycoon", I heard "Kingdom Tycoon."
Weird ha? Welcome to my world. God gives me these silly thoughts and I am stuck with them so now I am sharing it with you. The cool thing is it developed quickly into an idea. I decided to attack this idea of building God's Kingdom and came up with these 3 phases of construction.
The "Hayah" phase: A Hebrew word meaning "be there." We have to be in God's presence to do his work. We have to be fully aware of our surroundings, and be ready for God to place people in our paths. (See Exodus 24:12)
The "ginosko" phase: This is the Greek word for "to know." That is right, we have to know Jesus Christ. Through daily devotional, time in prayer, conversing and most importantly listening to God we develop this knowledge. You cannot show others who Jesus is if you yourself do not know! (See John 17:3)
Finally there is the "poureo" phase: This is the Greek word for Go, or Go forth! It is used in the Great Commission in Matthew as well as the story of Phillip and the Ethiopian eunuch. Phillip was commanded to "poureo" on a particular road and God led him right to a great opportunity to advance his Kingdom.
Why Kingdom Tycoon? I really don't have a good answer, but without a foundation and a plan we get chaos. My boys love Zoo Tycoon, but when they initially played it they had Rhinos sleeping with Crocs, Flamingos and Tigers living in harmony. It was craziness! This is what can happen to the Kingdom when we "poureo" out without a little "Hayah," and "ginosko!"
